SPOONER – The Washburn County Fairgrounds in Spooner was one of many sites of storm damage recently, and Fair Board members approached the county because they were told their insurance would not cover some of it.

At the county’s Public Property and Land Sale Committee meeting Monday, Sept. 12, the Fair Board told the members they learned the metal roof buildings were considered “cosmetic damage” by the insurance company, and repairs would not be covered under that category. The board does not have the funds to replace these roofs, they said. The woodworking building especially would need repairs, since it is aluminum and damaged by hail.
